Roots Expert Spotlight: Meet Kaleigh of Lamorinda Speech

At Little Seeds, we believe that every child deserves support that meets them where they are—and every parent deserves to feel empowered along the way. Our Roots Expert Spotlight series introduces the professionals we trust to help families navigate pregnancy, postpartum, and the early years with confidence and connection.

Today, we're excited to introduce Kaleigh, founder of Lamorinda Speech, who helps children and families build communication skills through play, connection, and practical support.

A Little About Kaleigh and Her Work

Kaleigh is a speech-language pathologist (SLP), a mom, and the founder of Lamorinda Speech. She provides pediatric speech therapy and parent coaching to families throughout the Lamorinda and Walnut Creek communities, as well as virtual services across California.

Her work focuses on helping children develop speech and language skills while empowering parents to become active participants in their child's growth. Whether supporting toddlers learning their first words or elementary-aged children building communication skills, Kaleigh believes parents are one of the most important members of a child's team.

Her goal is to bring a sense of fun, confidence, and lightness to a process that can often feel overwhelming.

What Drew Her to This Work

Kaleigh has always loved working with children and families.

Originally, she thought she would become a teacher, but along the way she discovered her true passion was helping children in a more individualized setting. She found that working one-on-one allowed her to build deeper connections and make a meaningful impact on both children and parents.

The joy she sees when a child learns a new word or masters a new sound—and the confidence parents gain as they learn how to support that growth at home—is what continues to inspire her every day.

Family Life in This Season

Family life right now is active, joyful, and full of adventure.

Kaleigh and her family are currently soaking up life with their 1½-year-old daughter while preparing to welcome their second child this fall.

These days are filled with park playdates, weekend adventures, water table afternoons, and picking fresh fruit from the garden. Life is busy, but in the best way.

What Parents Need More Support Around in the Early Days

One thing Kaleigh wishes more parents knew is that it's okay not to have all the answers.

Parenthood comes with a steep learning curve, and no one is expected to know everything. Having trusted people and resources to turn to can make all the difference.

Learning when to ask for help—and knowing where to find it—is one of the most valuable parenting skills there is.

How She Hopes Families Feel After Working With Her

Kaleigh hopes every family leaves feeling supported, encouraged, and more confident.

Her goal is to help parents discover practical and enjoyable ways to support their child's communication development at home, while feeling empowered in their role throughout the process.

One Small Piece of Advice for New or Expecting Parents

No one has this figured out.

Ask for help—early and often.

Favorite Ritual During Busy Days

For Kaleigh, it's the simple things:

A morning cup of coffee and a few quiet moments outside before the day begins.

Tools & Resources She Often Recommends

As a speech-language pathologist, Kaleigh has plenty of favorite tips for supporting communication development.

For younger toddlers, she often recommends skipping traditional sippy cups and moving directly to open cups or straw cups when developmentally appropriate.

For preschool-aged children, she encourages parents to ask more open-ended questions—such as "who," "what," "where," and "when"—instead of relying solely on yes-or-no questions. These simple shifts can create more opportunities for conversation and language growth.

What Support Looks Like in Her Own Life

Right now, support looks a lot like practical help.

Weekly prepared meals help her family navigate busy weekdays, and their gym's childcare gives her and her partner valuable time together on weekends.

Sometimes the most meaningful support comes in the form of making everyday life just a little easier.

Something Just for Her

Kaleigh loves creating things with her hands.

Recently, she's taken up quilting and enjoys attending ceramics classes whenever she can. These creative outlets provide a chance to slow down, learn something new, and do something purely for herself.

Why Community Matters During Pregnancy and Postpartum

Kaleigh believes parenting was never meant to be done alone.

There is something incredibly validating about being surrounded by other people who understand what you're going through. Community reminds us that we're not the only ones navigating sleepless nights, big emotions, and the constant learning that comes with raising children.

Knowing others are in the same boat can make all the difference.
