Roots Expert Spotlight: Meet Ash of Phoenix Transformations
At Little Seeds, we believe that the people who support families matter just as much as the services they offer. Our Roots Expert Spotlight series is designed to introduce you to the practitioners we trust—so you can get to know them not just professionally, but personally.
Today, we’re honored to introduce Ash, a longtime supporter of families through pregnancy, postpartum, and every tender season that follows.
A Little About Ash and Her Work
Ash wears many hats—she’s a mom of seven, a doula, a yoga teacher, and the founder of Phoenix Transformations Birth and Business Coaching. Her work supports parents across pregnancy, postpartum, and the long arc of parenthood, especially during seasons that feel overwhelming, identity-shifting, or tender.
At Little Seeds, Ash teaches pre- and postnatal yoga on Sundays at 10:30am, and her work extends far beyond the mat. She offers doula services, online childbirth education, and parent and business coaching—all rooted in nervous system care, emotional processing, and real-life tools for family life.
Looking ahead to 2026, Ash is also launching Spark Mentorship, a growth-centered community for birthworkers and perinatal providers who want to build sustainable, values-aligned businesses—because those who hold families deserve support, too.
What Drew Her to This Work
Ash’s calling grew directly from her own lived experience. Becoming a parent young—and then many more times after that—she navigated early parenthood without the level of support we’re often told should exist.
Through those years, she learned just how isolating early parenthood can be, and how deeply it shapes who we become. She also discovered the power of being truly seen—of having someone steady you, remind you that you’re not failing, and walk alongside you as you learn. That realization continues to guide her work today.
Family Life in This Season
Life in Ash’s home is full—busy, beautiful, and chaotic in the best way.
With children currently ranging from ages 11 to 21, she’s constantly shifting gears: slowing down for some, speeding up for others. This season has reinforced an important truth—balance isn’t static; it’s responsive.
Drawing from yoga philosophy, Ash describes herself as being in a “Svadhyaya Season”—a season of self-study—learning who she is again and again as life evolves.
What Parents Need Most in the Early Days
More than information, Ash sees parents needing reassurance.
Parents don’t need to be fixed—they need attunement. They need to know their feelings are normal, that rest is allowed, and that there is no “right” way to do something so deeply human. Much of parenting distress comes from believing you’re doing it wrong when, in reality, you’re learning.
As Ash puts it: This is the work of parenting. Learning to attune to our children often requires learning to attune to ourselves first—and many of us need support because no one modeled that for us.
How She Hopes Families Feel After Working Together
Grounded.
Ash hopes families leave feeling less alone, more trusting of their instincts, and better resourced—both emotionally and practically—for whatever season comes next. Not perfect. Just steadier.
One Piece of Advice for New or Expecting Parents
You don’t have to decide everything right now.
Early parenthood unfolds in real time. You’re allowed to learn as you go. You’re allowed to change your mind. And you were never meant to do this alone.
A Favorite Ritual During Busy Days
Coffee—always.
Ash is currently on a mission to master latte art (with mixed results), sharing her attempts on Instagram for a good laugh. Whether it’s a quiet moment before the house wakes up or a giggle over a latte flop, these small rituals act as a reset button in busy days.
A Tool She Often Recommends
Simple nervous system regulation.
This might look like placing your feet on the floor and noticing your breath, stepping outside for fresh air, or lowering stimulation when things feel overwhelming. Small practices can create meaningful shifts.
What Support Looks Like for Her Right Now
Support means letting herself receive help—at home, at work, and emotionally.
It also means intentionally building community instead of trying to hold everything alone. Ash views support not as weakness, but as a strategy for sustainability.
Something Just for Her
Yoga—but not in a productivity-driven way.
For Ash, yoga means unity—bringing mind, body, and spirit together. It’s about noticing a few of the roughly 30,000 breaths taken each day and moving in ways that feel nourishing. She also loves reading books completely unrelated to parenting or work. This year’s reading count? 45 books (with a playful goal of one day surpassing Stephen King’s reported 80-per-year).
Why Community Matters So Much in Pregnancy and Postpartum
Because humans were never meant to do this alone.
Pregnancy and postpartum are threshold experiences—life-changing transitions. Community provides reflection, safety, and continuity when everything feels new. When parents are supported by community, families—and entire communities—grow stronger.
