Roots Expert Spotlight: Meet Allison Green, Holistic Birth & Postpartum Doula
At Little Seeds, we believe that pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are not just events—but profound rites of passage that deserve care, presence, and community. Our Roots Expert Spotlight series introduces the practitioners we trust, offering a deeper look into who they are and how they support families through life’s most transformative seasons.
Today, we’re honored to introduce Allison Green, a Bay Area–based birthworker whose care centers on honoring transition, identity, and connection.
A Little About Allison and Her Work
Allison is a mother, holistic birth and postpartum doula, and Birth Story Medicine® Listener supporting families throughout the Bay Area. Her work is rooted in walking alongside families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—holding space for both the practical and the emotional aspects of these powerful transitions.
She offers personalized birth doula support and daytime postpartum care, approaching each family’s journey as a sacred rite of passage worthy of tenderness, intention, and deep respect.
What Drew Her to This Work
After experiencing a profound personal transformation following the birth of her son, Allison felt a clear call to support others during times of change.
She believes that thoughtful, personalized care during pregnancy and postpartum doesn’t just impact individual families—it ripples outward, strengthening communities as a whole. Her work is an offering rooted in service, presence, and reverence for the journey into parenthood.
Family Life in This Season
This season of family life is filled with hikes, camping trips, and beach days. Some of Allison’s most cherished moments happen gathered around a campfire, under the stars, soaking in time together in nature.
What Parents Need More Support Around in the Early Days
Allison sees a deep need for nourishment and in-person community during the early postpartum days.
Whether support comes from a doula, friends and family who understand their role is to show up and help, or parent groups, families are longing to be seen, recognized, and supported. These early days are not meant to be navigated in isolation.
How She Hopes Families Feel After Working With Her
Allison hopes families feel seen, honored, and supported.
Her intention is that each family she works with feels held through their experience—respected in their choices, validated in their emotions, and cared for in a way that acknowledges the depth of their transition.
One Small Piece of Advice for New or Expecting Parents
You will be transformed.
Birth and postpartum are rites of passage, and every rite of passage involves a shift in identity. Crossing this threshold deserves acknowledgment, tenderness, and care. You are becoming someone new—and that becoming matters.
Favorite Rituals During Busy Days
Allison’s grounding rituals include jasmine green tea and milky oolong, body oiling, sunshine, reishi mushrooms, and magnesium in the evenings—small, intentional practices that help anchor her through full days.
A Note on Tools & Resources
Allison approaches each family with deep personalization and chooses not to recommend a single universal tool or resource. Every family’s needs are different, and her support is guided by what arises organically in relationship with each client.
What Support Looks Like in Her Own Life
Right now, support looks like in-person connection—spending time with her local birthworker community and sharing tea with friends. These moments of presence and relationship are essential to her own well-being.
Something Just for Her
Allison finds joy in working with her hands and being outdoors. Her many passions include fiber arts, sourdough bread baking, folk herbalism, soapmaking, beekeeping, pottery, hide tanning, and gardening. She loves learning new skills and staying curious—both in life and in her work.
Why Community Matters So Much During Pregnancy and Postpartum
Community is essential because we are social beings.
Pregnancy and postpartum require co-regulation, safety, and connection—yet modern life often leaves parents isolated from extended family and in-person support. Loving community creates a sense of security, and when parents feel safe and supported, they are better equipped to ride the waves of parenting. The impact extends beyond the individual family, strengthening communities as a whole.
