Roots Expert Spotlight: Meet Adrienne of Women’s Root Wisdom
At Little Seeds, we believe that care is most powerful when it is both skilled and deeply human. Our Roots Expert Spotlight series exists to introduce you to the practitioners we trust—so you can get to know not only what they do, but how they show up for families.
Today, we’re honored to introduce Adrienne, a pelvic floor physical therapist whose work centers on supporting women with clarity, compassion, and whole-person care.
A Little About Adrienne and Her Work
Adrienne is a pelvic floor physical therapist working exclusively with women, offering care that spans preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum. She has developed a comprehensive, evidence-based program that integrates the mind, body, and essence of each person she works with.
Her approach is rooted in education, embodiment, and presence. Adrienne measures success not only by physical outcomes, but by how informed, supported, and held each woman feels. As she puts it, she knows she has done her job well when a woman leaves feeling truly understood.
Adrienne is the founder of Women’s Root Wisdom, where her work supports women and families during some of the most transformative seasons of life.
What Drew Her to Perinatal and Pelvic Health Work
Adrienne has been a physical therapist for over 40 years, with past specialties including pediatrics, energy medicine, and integrative manual therapies. Her path toward pelvic floor physical therapy deepened about 15 years ago, when she entered menopause and experienced pelvic floor challenges that had lingered since her own pregnancies.
Her personal history—including childhood trauma, endometriosis, and hormonal and menstrual cycle challenges—has given her a deep capacity to meet women where they are, both physically and emotionally. Thirteen years ago, she formally trained in pelvic floor physical therapy, and since then, this work has become her primary focus and passion.
Today, Adrienne considers it a privilege to serve as part of a woman’s support team during pregnancy, labor preparation, and postpartum recovery.
Family Life in This Season
Nearly five years ago, Adrienne moved to California when her granddaughter Claire was born in San Francisco. Relocating allowed her to become an integral part of her daughter’s family and an active member of what she lovingly calls “Team Claire.”
Since moving to the Bay Area, Adrienne has also found partnership and joy in blending two families. This season of life is one of connection, integration, and being close to the people she loves most.
What Parents Need More Support Around in the Early Days
Adrienne believes that any and all support matters—especially for women who are accustomed to being highly capable and self-sufficient.
Early parenthood asks something different: the willingness to receive care. Even when support doesn’t arrive in exactly the way we would do it ourselves, allowing ourselves to be nurtured can be a profound and necessary practice.
How She Hopes Families Feel After Working With Her
Adrienne wants the women she serves to feel like they’ve been given an owner’s manual for their bodies—especially their pelvis—at a depth rarely offered.
At the same time, she hopes each woman feels heard, held, nurtured, and met exactly where she is. Her work is about education and relationship, empowering women to care for themselves with confidence and understanding.
One Small Piece of Advice for New or Expecting Parents
In the third trimester and postpartum period, Adrienne often shares this truth:
The slower you go, the faster you recover.
There is a paradoxical relationship between rest and healing—and honoring that rhythm can make all the difference.
A Favorite Ritual During Busy Days
Midday, Adrienne treasures a simple ritual: slowly sipping a coffee while walking in the sunshine, with an intention of presence—when possible. These moments act as gentle resets in the midst of full days.
A Tool She Often Recommends
Adrienne includes Canister Breathing in all of her home programs.
When taught and practiced intentionally, this breathing technique supports balanced core activation, stimulates the vagus nerve to promote rest and restoration, and encourages healthy energy flow throughout the body. It’s a foundational tool she returns to again and again.
What Support Looks Like in Her Own Life
Adrienne feels deeply grateful for the support of her family and friends. Having recently moved to the East Bay from Sausalito, she’s also looking forward to cultivating a deeper sense of belonging—through community, joy, play, and continued learning.
Support, for her, means being part of something greater than herself.
Something Just for Her
Outside of work and caregiving, Adrienne has a lifelong passion for sailing.
Before moving to California, she lived in the Virgin Islands aboard her sailboat—working as a pelvic floor PT on workdays and casting off lines on days off to explore new harbors, snorkel, and swim with turtles. Today, she and her partner sail the Bay, often heading toward Angel Island or Treasure Island, continuing a rhythm of adventure and connection with the water.
Why Community Is So Important During Pregnancy and Postpartum
Through working with hundreds of women and families, Adrienne has seen how common it is for parents to feel alone—or to question whether what they’re experiencing is “normal.”
Community creates space for shared knowledge, reassurance, and healing. When sensitive topics are spoken about openly—such as urinary incontinence during pregnancy—shame dissolves, and solutions become visible. Together, barriers can be broken.
